A Face in the Crowd: Joseph King

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my pleasure to introduce to you, from the great state of Florida, one of the winners of the TWU iPod Touch raffle. He has written his own Bio and has been kind enough to allow us to post it here. He’s been based, over the years, all over the country and so many of you may already know his name but for those who don’t, it’s time to meet Joseph King.

Hi, my name is Joseph King and I’m based in PIE. I’ve been with the company for four years, all of which have been spent inflight. Prior to being a flight attendant I worked at various resorts/casinos in Las Vegas. A lot of my free time is spent traveling. I have family spread out all over and try to visit as much as possible. My home life is pretty quiet; I live alone, am single, and don’t have any pets. The biggest challenges facing our base are about the same that face all the bases. I’d like to see the incentive program improved. I’d like to see pay based on years of service and not by how much is sold on the plane. In general I’m a very passionate, fun, energetic guy. I love working here and feel blessed that I can work with people I call friends. A lot of people don’t know it, but I first started out with Allegiant in March of 2005. In 2007 I left Allegiant to explore a new opportunity at another airline. The entire time I was at the other airline I missed working at Allegiant. In 2007 I reapplied to come back here, and am so thankful that they hired me back. With the TWU being here now, I’m looking for more solid work rules and an overall better working environment for a company we all really enjoy. I was very excited to hear that I won the IPod touch. Thanks TWU for the IPod and for helping us to keep looking forward in our efforts to make things better!!

Thank you, Joseph, for sharing a little about yourself with us today. I know that the incentive program is a major topic of discussion with people standing both for and against so thank you for letting your voice be heard. As negotiations continue, it’s important that we, as individuals, make our opinions known so that decisions can be made in the best interests of the work group as a whole.

To make your voice heard regarding the most recent hot topic, AIS going dark, visit the Contact Us page at www.TWU577.org. Thanks again Joseph, and enjoy your new IPod Touch. You could be our next Face in the Crowd, just email your request to our website.

We hope to hear from you soon.
